About Laurence

Laurence Montignac-Carter of Accent on MassageLaurence Montignac-Carter was born and raised in the historic medieval city of Poitiers, France, and has lived in the United States since 2008.

After graduating from the Holistic Massage Training Institute of Baltimore, Maryland, Laurence received her Nationally and State Certified Massage Therapist Certificates in 2010. As well as working in a spa, she also maintained a home practice (Accent On Massage) in Pasadena, Maryland, and acquired an excellent reputation and rapport with Dr. John Michie at Whole Health Chiropractic, Annapolis, Maryland, and Dr. Bert Bradford at the Chiropractic Center in Pasadena, Maryland. Due to her natural aptitude, technique, and style, the Holistic Massage Training Institute asked her to join the instructor team in 2013.

Laurence moved to Garden City, Idaho with her husband in May 2016.

Before coming to the United States, I spent eight years living in Australia. That time opened my mind to a different lifestyle. I learned how to adapt to different environments and remain as healthy as I could to be able to handle the changes of weather, food and way of life–not to mention stress. Wherever you live in the world, we are all surrounded by stress. My philosophy is to tame the stress and allow my clients to let it go and forget about it.

I have been using acupuncture/acupressure treatments for 40 years and I am absolutely convinced that TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) is a wonderful medicine to add to any diagnostic from the allopathic medicine. Regular sessions of Oriental massage therapy are actually the perfect elixir for overall wellness of the body along with the mind. Probably the most apparent good things about the mind are its soothing and calming effect that can help reduce anxiety, tension, and stress.

As a Massage Therapist, I am fascinated with Fascia and Visceral. I always look at any trauma and emotional issues in people during my treatment.

I am also specialized in Contemporary Cupping Methods from the ICTA (International Cupping Therapy Association) and a Facelift Massage Specialist graduate from the Bellanina Institute. Oxygenating the facial skin and opening the energy flow through the different acupressure points is my goal when I practice a Bellanina Facelift Massage.

Having extensive experience in Aromatherapy, I will prepare Organic Aromatherapy blends to suit the emotional stage of mind and the chronic issues of my clients.

A practitioner of CranioSacral Therapy, I have completed CranioSacral Therapy 1 and 2 as well as Somato Release 1 and 2 classes from the renowned Upledger Institute of John E. Upledger DO, OMM, and am pursuing full certification in CranioSacral Therapy.

A person’s balance is due to a mixture of naturally healthy food and regular exercise.

I strongly believe the key to maintaining a great health is to keep an alkaline diet so that the pH level of our system is not acidic.  However, in the context of an acid-based imbalance, many health problems cannot be excluded; which means that acidity is responsible for many ailments.  The alkaline diet basically reinforces good old-fashioned healthy eating.  The diet recommends eating more vegetables, fruits, drinking lots of water, cutting the sugar/salt, less alcohol consumption, as well as less meat and processed food.  This, as well as all things in moderation, helps us to get through life and fights against many diseases.

The key to success and happiness is having love in its many forms in our hearts and souls.  Simply stated, “the more love we have, the longer we live.”  Massage is a feel good moment to connect our body:  Spiritual/Jing, Physical/Qi and mind/Shen, in a peaceful relaxing point in time.  It is a voyage and wonderful experience for our body that we neglect so often.

The essence of my responsibility is for you to concentrate on your breathing and forget about your busy and stressful life.

I am responsible for your well-being during this session. Give your body the right to disconnect from your head and let your mind escape but nourish your soul. No commitment, no resistance, just you, your self-esteem, peacefulness, and happiness always.
